All phonics in EYFS and KS1 is taught following the Letters and Sounds documents alongside the ‘Phonics Play Programme’. The letters and sound programme is devised in six phases. We have adopted the suggested daily teaching sequence set out in ‘Letters and Sounds’; Introduce, Revisit and Review, Teach, Practices, Apply and Assess. The ‘Apply’ stage allows teachers tocontextualise the learnt phonemes or high frequency words within a broad and rich reading material.
